Fact: viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, compared to just 10% when reading it in text.

It goes without saying (but I’ll say it just in case), any explainer or animated video begins with a clear, client-agreed narrative and storyboard before any build starts. Failing to do so is akin to knitting a fabulous Aran sweater with a colourful feature on the front. If at some point of the development the client wishes to make a radical change, it will become a costly exercise to unthread all the good work done so far. Creative agencies would do well to remind their clients of the process if only to ensure all those pre-agreed milestones are met.

To some extent, the same goes with any vodcasts. Ensuring the interviewer (and sometimes the interviewee) are fully aware of what questions are going to be asked in advance will, from my experience, avoid a lot of “umming” and “ahing”, which can be a real pain in the gluteus maximus to edit out without affecting the continuity.
