World-leading financial exchanges
Over many years I’ve had the good fortune of working with three world-leading financial exchanges that include LME, CME Group and NYSE. Nearly four exchanges in actual fact, but I’ll get on to that later.
As with every new client, there’s often a need from the outset to rapidly self-educate until it all makes sense – like knowing the difference between forward contracts, futures, swaps from options. Right?
Being new to this vocabulary, often gives rise to that unique and often unspoken quality called beginners’ wisdom, which when looked from another perspective, means you’re less blinkered and less tied-up creatively by convention.
“In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.”*
However, the hardest part may be convincing a client – tied up by that same convention – to hedge their bets on something less predictable and familiar, though of course, doing something predictable certainly provides an assurance which is warmly welcomed in the financial sector.
The fourth client I alluded to at the beginning was hoping to launch a new Scottish ethical stock exchange for which I created an identity based on ancient ogham writing. Unfortunately the project never got off the ground and no further than the agreed branding.
